Pastoral Ministry
The Church reaches out to provide spiritual care of the frail, ill and dying through the sacraments, home visits, prayer and supportive presence. Please contact parish office, 410-398-1100, if you or a family member are unable to attend church due to illness so that we may arrange visits to you.
Sacraments available to persons unable to attend church due to illness:
- Baptism is the first step in a life long journey of commitment and discipleship. Baptism is the church’s way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God. Please contact the parish for Baptism of Non-Catholic persons with serious, life threatening illness or danger of death who desire to convert to Catholicism.
- Eucharist or Communion is both a sacrifice and a meal. Catholics believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ’s Body and Blood, we are also nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.
- Reconciliation , Penance or Confession has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God’s unconditional forgiveness and as a result are called to forgive others.
- Anointing of the Sick, The Catholic Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, formerly known as Last Rites or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate for physical, mental, or spiritual sickness.
Special Celebrations
Holy Souls Mass to remember the deceased of our parish and family members. We remember in a special way those parishioners and our family members who have died this year. All are welcome to attend the Mass. Once a year we celebrate the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick within a parish Sunday liturgy. We invite all those parishioners with serious illness to receive the Sacrament of the Sick for physical, emotional or spiritual illness.
