Baptism

Preparing for a Baptism?

For Catholics, the Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Whether we are baptized as infants or adults, Baptism is the Church’s way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.

Baptism Classes are held from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in the Parish Center. (455 Bow St. Elkton, MD 21921)

Please call the parish office for the dates of the classes.

Requirements for a Godparent:

  • Is an active member of the Catholic Church who has been Baptized, Confirmed, and
    has received First Communion.
  • Is over 16 year of age

Note: Godparents are invited and encouraged to attend the session with the parents, but this is not mandatory.

There are two options for the Celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism:

  • During a regularly scheduled Sunday Mass at Immaculate Conception or St. Jude Church so that the community would be present to welcome its newest member.

Note: No Baptisms are celebrated during the Season of Lent.
